Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Miheigou of Xiqiu Township, about 20 km northwest of Muli County, Sichuan. It was named by Wen Peiran in 1992.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Dominated by limestone, and occasionally intercalated with siliciclastics. The Lower Formation consists of dark-gray brecciated bioclastic crystalline limestone, in which the conglomerate is composed mainly of slate, thickness >22 m. The Middle Formation consists of gray crystalline limestone, 80.1 m thick, in conformable contact with both the overlying and underlying strata. The Upper Formation is formed by dark-gray brecciated bioclastic crystalline limestone and sandstone, intercalated with gray chlorite slate containing black magnetite spots, thickness 84.7 m.

Fossils

The Lower Formation contains Coral Arachnolasma cf. sinense. The Middle Formation contains Fusulinids Pseudostaffella cf. kremsi and Profusulinella sp. The Upper Formation limestone contains crinoid stems and fusulinid Schwagerina sp.
